South Africa was a blast!

I honestly think I am in love with South Africa and the Cape province in particular. It feels like a spiritual home as someone I know so eloquently put it. Me and my mother had a great time both in KNP where we saw some spectacular scenery and in Cape Town where we relaxed, went for scenic drives and nice meals.

Elandela Lodge was a wonderful place but in our opinion SA is not the place for safaris. Kenya and Tanzania are far better for this. YMMV of course. The scenery in KNP is stunning.

We did see some animals, but just not in the same quantities and setting as Masai Mara.

The major highlight was the Cape Province with the towns of Knysna and Swellendam as the pearls in the crown. Never forget to visit those two when you are out there.

Driving around on the gravel roads is a load of fun but also a risk. We had one flat which I managed to change in under 10 minutes.

The Tarragon was supposed to be our final stop. It is a beautiful house that has about 4 very private apartments of which we had rented the large 2BR.

We took it easy but had some wonderful excursions as well.

We ended up liking the V&A Waterfront so much that we added one extra night there, just to enjoy the atmosphere and the restaurants.

It was a great holiday and it could have easily lasted another couple of weeks. The sign of a great vacation is when it seems both long and short at the same time. Cape Town, I will be back!
