This is the end...

...of 2009. I am sitting here in Wagga Wagga (a dump) after driving today through the deserted Australian landscape. Desolation is the only word I can use to describe it.

There is no party, no fireworks, no nothing here tonight. Well, there is a swing dance party in my hotel, but I think I will opt out. One funny fact: even though you are driving through a very flat riverless plane, you will find these signs everywhere. The warn you how high the water can rise in case of rain...

    Having seen your posts on flyertalk, I am reading your blog with interest as I will be travelling for 4 months alone from March to Thailand, Australia and NZ after being made redundant. Having read this post I think I will give Wagga Wagga a miss!...but look forward to reading about your other destinations for ideas!

    Hi Henk,

    Your photos of Sydney look fab! I like reading all these travel stories as i have a target of 50 countries to reach before i am 50 and i am only at number 31 so far.
