So, is Hawaii pretty?

Well, so far I have only seen Oahu. Most people will tell you that is the most uninspiring of the islands. Its only attraction is Waikiki, which is basically a pretty kind of "Vegas at the sea" with a nicer patronage. Today I decided to test that claim to boredom by renting a car and taking my camera equipment along. About time I started using that stuff anyway.

I rented a poor man's Hummer...



You might not say it from this picture, but it is actually not that much smaller than a Hummer. It is a Wrangler. It drives like a dream (for such a battleship) but getting the top off was rather difficult. Luckily, just after I managed it, it started raining. Getting the top back on is also hard.

So, will there be majestic landscapes? Impressive vistas? Quaint local visuals? No, not really. The island indeed is boring. I have done my best to make something out of nothing and the results you can find below. Suffice to say that I have cancelled my other two car rentals on this island. I will be more than happy here in Waikiki.
