Too much beauty

As far as I am concerned they can turn the whole state of CA into one big national park. I cannot believe how beautiful it is. After 6 or so visits it still manages to surprise me. It is almost frustrating since after every turn something turns up you want to take in. Quietly. Easily. But no, you have to go on otherwise 10 miles takes a day. You want to take a picture of everything, but you can't. There is no point. First of all a picture does not do the experience justice, second of all there is sometimes just no place to stop and last but not least: how many pictures can you show people before they kill you?

Really, folks. If you ever get the chance, go tour the Western USA. For those of you who live here and have not yet done so, shame on you. However, I have never seen the Peace Palace either. Call me and I will help you plan your journey. I now know the most scenic but least published routes. I will let the pictures do the talking. They are from yesterday and today. (FYI: I did not 'green up' my pictures. It really is that green here and yes, there are so many shades of it!)

And we all know how that ended (see two posts ago)...

Today (Death Valley)

It is hard to capture the beauty of Death Valley in pictures. Seeing is believing. Snow, salt, desert bushes and mirages can sometimes be seen from 1 viewpoint.

I am relaxing in a very nice hotel on the edge of Las Vegas now. Not on the strip, since I do not want to party or gamble. I just want to re-energize myself after three of the most tiring but astonishingly beautiful days of driving.

Take care!
